Before you start

  • A review with more than one available version and access to the versions you want to inspect.
  • Open the comment panel. On mobile, tap Comments. Leave comparison mode to use history.

See it in Aproova

History includes earlier versions in the comment panel. Click again to return to the current version. Example with synthetic data.
The preview brings the original artwork, markup and comment together in a read-only view. Back to review closes it without switching the version under review. Example with synthetic data.

Step by step

  1. 1When you open a review, the panel shows comments from the current version. Click History to include earlier available versions.
  2. 2Check each comment’s version, such as V1 or V2, and its open or resolved status. For videos, check the timestamp; for PDFs, check the page.
  3. 3Combine History with the Open filter to check earlier requests. Resolved comments remain available under the filter for all comments.
  4. 4Click an older comment or View original. The read-only preview brings together the original file, its markup and a dedicated area for the comment text. If the comment has several locations, choose one under Markup.
  5. 5For video, the preview opens at the comment’s timestamp. Play the video and use Back to markup to return to that moment. A V1 timestamp is not transferred to V2 because edits may have changed the scene.
  6. 6Use Back to review, Close preview or Escape to continue on the version you were viewing. Open original version is a separate action that switches the open version.
  7. 7Click History again to show only comments from the current version. Reloading the page starts with history off.

What should happen

You can read the history and inspect each markup on its original file. No comments are copied automatically, and closing the preview preserves the version being reviewed.

Common problems

  • History is missing: check that more than one version is available and comparison mode is closed. History respects your access permissions.
  • A comment is missing: check search, status and other filters. Current-frame or current-page filters return to the current-version scope.
  • No timestamp on a video comment: the comment has no recorded video position. The preview does not invent a timestamp.
  • Unsupported preview format or unavailable file: use Open original version to inspect the version in the full viewer.
  • To turn an earlier request into a new open comment, use the separate Bring to this version flow when available in comparison. Reading history creates no copies.
