How to connect Trello and link a review to a card

Connect the workspace once, then choose the card that will receive the review link and updates.

Before you start

  • A Flow, Operations, or Custom plan.
  • Be the workspace Owner to connect Trello and choose, change, or remove review cards.
  • A Trello account with access to the selected board, list, and card.

Quick task overview

Start with these steps. If the task has more steps, they appear right below.

  1. Step 1

As the Owner, open Settings, go to Integrations, and find Trello.

  2. Step 2

Select “Connect Trello” and authorize Aproova with the account that can access your team’s cards.

  3. Step 3

Return to Aproova and check that the integration status is “Connected”. This connection applies to the whole workspace.

Step by step

  1. 4Open the review that should follow a work item, select “Show summary” or “Details”, and scroll to the end. The Trello section sits directly below Activity.
  2. 5In the Trello section, select “Choose card”. Aproova uses existing cards: if the work item does not exist yet, create it in Trello and return to this step.
  3. 6Select Board, List, and Card in that order. Check the full path before confirming the link.
  4. 7In the same Trello section, select “Move by status” and choose destination lists for new versions, requested changes, approval, and rejection. Keep “Do not move automatically” for events that should leave the card in place.
  5. 8Open the card in Trello and confirm the attachment with the review link. New versions and decisions recorded in Aproova will appear as short card comments.
  6. 9To change the destination, return to the same section in the review. To disconnect or reconnect the account, use Settings > Integrations.

What should happen

The card keeps the review link, receives updates without copying private comments, and moves between lists according to the configured rules.

Common problems

  • The integration is missing: confirm the Flow plan or higher. Only the Owner can start the connection.
  • The link action is unavailable: only the Owner can access boards and choose, change, or remove the card.
  • A board, list, or card is missing: check that it is open and available to the connected Trello account.
  • Authorization expired or was removed: open Settings > Integrations and select “Reconnect”. Existing links resume updates after reconnection.
  • An update is delayed or fails in Trello: the version or decision remains saved in Aproova. The integration retries without blocking the work.
  • Private comments and unreleased internal versions are not sent to Trello.
  • The card did not move: open “Move by status” and confirm that this result has a destination list configured.
